My first project, a car.

1.For my first project, i decided to make my own car. It was actually more difficult than i thought it was going to be. Cars are not box shaped, they're round and have different kinds of shapes all over, and it was just very difficult to create really good detail on difficult surfaces. plus this is my first time using goodle sketchup in 2 years so there are some things i definitely forgot how to do. hopefully as this class goes on and i make more projects i will be able to imporve my skills and make much better and cooler looking objects with more detail. i was not able to meet every requirment because i am not as well educated with google sketchup as i thought i was and tried to make a difficult project too soon.
2. this project relates to creativity and innovation because i had a very creative and cool idea to make my own car and make it look almost exactly alike. there were some things i really struggled with but i was able to put some important detail on my car to show that it was a pearl green Subaru legacy and it was awd. i was also able to create the door handles and make them look exactly like the ones on my car and finally i was able to make the headlights and backlights look exactly like the headlights and backlights on my car! hopefully if i have time at the end of this semester and i am more educated with google sketchup i can go back and try to finish and improve my little car.
3. From this project, i learned that it is very hard to create windows and lights and stuff on round surfaces. its hard to make you lines arc around your surface just right enough to create a sunroof or a window...so i did as well as i could and i had to get rid of the sunroof and i had to make some of my surfaces on my car flat even though they are actually round. however you cant really tell so it doesn't look bad. I also learned that i do not know as much about sketchup as i should and that i need to start simpler and work my way to the top as i learnt through this semester.
4. For this project, i am mostly proud of the fact that even though things went wrong and there were lots of really difficult things in my way, i still kept trying and pushing myself to finish and do as best as i possibly could. i am also proud that i found ways around my obsticals.
5. oh there are definitely lots of ways i could improve this project, for one i could learn how to draw objects on curved surfaces so that i could really make my car look detailed and correct. also i could learn how to curve the edges of my car so that it actually looks like a car and not a square with a rounded top. i could also learn how to make the detail on my car look sharper and not so messy and ugly. also i could probably learn to scale my car better. i noticed looking at the car and looking at the actual picture that it wasnt shapped exactly the way i wanted it to be.

More about Sugata's experiments

I think the reason he did these experiments was to try to see if, 1. Kids could teach themselves, and 2. How many people were interested in learning but can't because they don't have a teacher to teach them. His experiments were a good idea because now people know that yes there are children out there who want to learn and those children know how to teach themselves if we just give them something to work with. This video, and experiments have to do with my independent study because for my independent study, i am going to have to learn how to help myself and if i really want to learn something i really have to try and work at it even on my own time.

Learning

Do you think you can teach your self anything?

Yes, i believe i can teach myself anything if i work hard at it and try my very best and do everything i need to do to get there. If you make it your priority and major goal to learn something new and you know you need to learn by yourself, you can push yourself and push yourself to do the best you can and to try to learn a little more each day or week till you know what it is you need to know by heart. Don't give up!
